Description

What are the genetic and clinical features of *Ralstonia pickettii* infections? This study analyzes the molecular epidemiology and clinical characteristics of *Ralstonia pickettii* strains collected from 2008 to 2013. Researchers identified strains using PCR, 16S rDNA, and VITEK 2, comparing their accuracy. MLST analysis revealed ST9 as the most common sequence type. Antibiotic sensitivity testing showed sensitivity to cephalosporins, β-lactam/β-lactamase inhibitors, levofloxacin, and trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole. Common clinical symptoms included cough, sputum, and shortness of breath. The study concludes that PCR is a faster identification method, ST9 is the most common sequence type, and respiratory symptoms are typical characteristics of *Ralstonia pickettii* infections.

Being published in European Journal of Clinical Microbiology & Infectious Diseases, the study goes in line with the scope and focus on clinical microbiology and infectious diseases. The molecular epidemiology and clinical characteristics of Ralstonia pickettii add to knowledge in this field, contributing to a better understanding of the pathogen.
