Unsere Untersuchung war fast vollendet als wir die Note des Hrn. Despretz über die Arbeit des Hrn. Langberg in Betreff der Messung der Wärmeleitung der Körper (C. R. Nov. 1852) erhielten. — Hr. Despretz glaubt danach stets noch die Anwendung des Quecksilber‐Thermometers der Benutzung der Thermoelemente bei den betreffenden Beobachtungen vorziehen zu müssen. — Wir wollen hoffen dass die Anwendung der Thermoelemente wie dieselbe bei unseren Versuchen stattgefunden hat von einem gleichen Einwand nicht betroffen werden möge.
Es wurde dabei angenommen dass die Platinstange ebenso wie die Stangen aus Rose'schem Metall und Wismuth durch den Mangel an Versilberung nicht bedeutend in ihrer Wärmeabgabe an die Umgebung von den versilberten Stangen differirten. Es wird diese Annahme vorzüglich bei den in der Luft angestellten Versuchen wo die Stangen mehr durch directe Mittheilung der Wärme wie durch Strahlung abgekühl werden statthaft seyn.
