Description

Are we on the cusp of better spinal metastasis care? This article discusses the growing incidence of spinal metastases and their impact on patients' quality of life, highlighting the need for proactive treatment approaches. It emphasizes the integral role of spine surgeons in maintaining patients' activities of daily living (ADL) and improving treatment outcomes. The current treatment approach to spinal metastases prevents them from providing appropriate treatment when needed. It is essential for spine surgeons to understand and be more actively involved with patients with musculoskeletal disorders and cancer patients. There should be the adoption of a multidisciplinary approach to preemptive treatment with medication, radiotherapy, and surgical treatment. The integration of the latest findings associated with minimally invasive spinal treatments is also necessary. This analysis heralds a new era in the management of spinal metastases, emphasizing the importance of multidisciplinary collaboration and minimally invasive treatments. By promoting proactive and integrated care, it aims to improve the quality of life and life expectancy for patients with spinal metastases.

Published in Frontiers in Oncology, this article addresses a critical area within cancer care: the management of spinal metastases. By advocating for multidisciplinary approaches and minimally invasive treatments, the article aligns with the journal's aim of promoting innovative strategies for cancer management. This directly contributes to improved outcomes and quality of life for cancer patients.
