Description

How can management professionals ensure data integrity when using the Internet for research? This paper addresses the growing reliance on the Internet for information gathering and research, and the critical need for prudent managers to carefully evaluate online sources. The Internet must be utilized by the prudent manager. The author examines three key issues: accuracy and recency of information, proper categorization of information types, and correct referencing of online sources in academic and industrial research. It also examines how to reference properly information obtained from the Internet that is used in academic and industrial research. The paper concludes with a discussion of ethical considerations related to electronic media. By addressing these issues, managers can minimize risks and uphold data integrity in the digital age.
