This research explores how businesses, both large and small, are incorporating environmental considerations into their operations, aiming to design a taxonomy of effective environmental strategies and test their real-world application within Italian industries. Executives are facing increasing pressure from public opinion, regulations, and governmental bodies to enhance environmental performance and establish a connection between environmental consciousness and competitive success. This study attempts to categorize environmental strategies currently in practice, conducting empirical investigations to evaluate whether these strategies manifest in tangible corporate behaviors. This analysis offers a foundational framework for understanding the strategic integration of environmental concerns within business operations. It provides insights for businesses in Italy and beyond on how to develop and implement successful strategies that benefit both the environment and their competitive positioning.
