This environmental impact assessment evaluates the potential effects of a large-scale irrigation project on water quality in the Konya Plain of Turkey. The assessment considers six sub-projects during their construction and operation phases, focusing on agricultural environmental problems, potential impacts on water quality, ecological changes, and water budget. The study uses the results of the EIA to propose significant design changes. These changes seek to minimize adverse environmental impacts originally anticipated from the project. The study emphasizes the need for a holistic approach to large projects. This study showcases how a thorough environmental impact assessment can lead to more sustainable development decisions. It underscores the importance of evaluating water quality aspects to ensure the long-term environmental health of irrigated agricultural regions.
