Where do we stand in the fight against elder abuse? This paper provides an update on the field of elder abuse and neglect, reviewing progress made over the past five years. A decade on from earlier reviews, progress towards understanding and preventing elder abuse has been exceptionally slow. Highlighting the most salutary accomplishment being the increase in awareness of elder abuse among the nations of the world. The purpose of this paper is to review the status of the field with specific reference to the past five years. The review is limited to elder abuse in domestic settings.
