Description

Can technology bridge the gap in dermatological care? This review explores the expanding role of teledermatology (TD) in Mohs micrographic surgery (MMS), evaluating its impact on patient care at various stages. The study assesses the benefits, limitations, and patient experiences associated with integrating TD into MMS practices. Findings reveal that TD reduces waiting times and consultation failure rates for preoperative consultations. It also shortens time to treatment and leads to travel savings. Telepathology improves communication and accuracy during surgery, while telephone follow-up proves a cost-effective alternative for postoperative care with high patient satisfaction. Despite its advantages, TD faces challenges like financial expense and technical issues. The review highlights TD's potential to enhance patient experiences and outcomes in dermatological care.

Published in Archives of Dermatological Research, this review aligns with the journal's focus on advancing dermatological knowledge and clinical practice. It explores the application of telemedicine in a specific surgical procedure, offering valuable insights for dermatologists. The review is relevant to the journal's audience interested in innovative approaches to dermatological care.
